Audition Requirements:
Thanks for your interest in CPT’s Readers Theatre. On Sunday August 11th, we will be presenting a staged reading of “Macbitches” by Sophie McIntosh, directed by Paul and Wendy Babb. We are accepting video audition submissions immediately. The reading will be performed before a live audience on the CPT stage in Thousand Oaks with actors reading from scripts.
“Macbitches” is a darkly comedic play that explores the intense world of a university drama department. We’re seeking dynamic performers who can bring to life the sharp wit, vulnerability, ambition, and rivalry that define these unforgettable characters. This is your chance to showcase your range in a fast-paced, engaging production that delves deep into the intense pressures, humorous absurdities of the creative world and the passionate drive for success.

- Thursday August 8th, 6:30-9:30pm (Private Residence in Thousand Oaks)
- Saturday August. 10th 1:00-4:00pm (Conejo Players Theatre – Thousand Oaks)
- Performance Day Sunday August 11th – 4:30 call time for a 6pm show (Conejo Players Theatre)
Audition Video Information:
Videos can be shot on your phone and no longer than 3 minutes total. We prefer you read from Macbitches (sides attached). No need for memorization. Just choose one of the scenes and have a friend read the other lines from off camera. If you have specific characters you are interested in, just tell us on the video. Don’t get hung up on the quality of the video. Keep it simple.
Once recorded, you can either email us the video or if the file is too large to send, upload the video to YouTube, set as Unlisted and share the link. Or, share the video using Google Drive. Or, use Zoom to record and share or whatever video sharing tool works best for you.
In your response please include any conflicts with rehearsal times.

McIntosh’s incisive wit and keen observations bring to life the intense pressures and often humorous absurdities of the theatrical world. With its fast-paced dialogue and deeply human characters, MacBitches offers a captivating exploration of what drives us to achieve and the price we’re willing to pay for success.
Character Descriptions
Hailey Huson (Lady Macbeth) is a freshman BFA acting major from Kokomo, IN. She is thrilled to be making her mainstage debut at UMNC. “Shoutout to Mr. Hansen and the KHS Drama Squad!”
Piper Bell (Messenger #1) is a sophomore BFA acting major from Eagle Bend, MN. She has previously been seen on UMNC’s mainstage as Berta in Hedda Gabler. “Psalm 33:3.”
Cam Witkowski (Gentlewoman) is a junior BFA acting major and philosophy minor from Marquette, MI. She has previously been seen on UMNC’s mainstage as a Wedding Guest in The Drowsy Chaperone, Theban Elder/Chorus in Antigone, and an Attendant in Twelfth Night. “All my love to Mom, Dad, Abbie, and Lou (but none to Brian).”
Alexis Lapp (Lady Macduff) is a senior BFA acting major from Minneapolis, MN. She has previously been seen on UMNC’s mainstage as Kitty in The Drowsy Chaperone, Maria in Twelfth Night, Mary Warren in The Crucible, and others. “This one’s for you, Mom.”
Rachel Labeau (First Witch) is a senior BFA acting major from Mora, MN. She has previously been seen on UMNC’s mainstage as Hedda Tesman in Hedda Gabler, Janet Van de Graaff in The Drowsy Chaperone, Olivia in Twelfth Night, Abigail Williams in The Crucible, and others.
