Plot Summary:

Sweet Charity  is the story of Charity Hope Valentine, a dance hall hostess who seems to always be looking for love in all the wrong places. But that won’t stop our fun loving, quirky, eternal optimist as she takes us dancing and singing through all of her adventures or rather misadventures. Along the way we meet her best friends, Nickie and Helene, who want to break away and live a “normal” life, movie stars, a funky priest, and her “impossible to believe but he’s better than nothing” hero. With a hilarious book by, Neil Simon, Sweet Charity is a musical in every sense of the word. Cy Coleman has captured the rhythms and sounds, and Dorothy Fields the vernacular of fun, of 60s New York. It's a dancing show, too, with great opportunity for use of dramatic movement. Originally directed and choreographed by the great Bob Fosse, this show is filled with showstoppers like “Hey, Big Spender”, “I’m a Brass Band” and “ Rhythm of Life”, to name a few. ~RATED PG-13
