PLOT SUMMARY:
Classic farce and love story. After arriving in the Hereafter by mistake, Prizefighter Joe Pendleton is informed that his body has been cremated and he is sent back to earth as Farnsworth, a wealthy financier who is about to be murdered by his wife. Joe Pendleton: (22-30), must be convincing (physically) as a current, heavyweight boxing champion. Charming in a rough-edged sort of way, “diamond-in-the-rough”; young Patrick Warburton or David Boreanz type.
Mr. Jordan/Old Man: (45-60), very polished and professional, suave and charming, very smooth not easily flustered; Michael Caine/Kelsey Grammer type.
“Heavenly” Messenger 7013: (25-50), efficient yet overwhelmed, must be able to deliver tongue-in-cheek lines, witty; Matthew Perry/David Hyde-Pierce type.
Julia Farnsworth: (25-35), beautiful, haughty, stuck on herself, thinks the world should fall at her feet; Katherine Heigl/Charlize Theron type.
Tony Abbott: (30-45), handsome, sophisticated, smooth, clearly a “Ladies Man” and a schemer; Michael Weatherly/John Stamos/Simon Baker type.
Bette Logan: (20-25), pretty, vulnerable, delicate, must have a waif “me-against-the-world” quality; Rachael McAdams type
Max Levine (Joe’s Fight Manager): (50-65), all business yet world-weary, cigar chewing, scrappy and rough around the edges; Ralph Waite/John Mahoney type.
Mrs. Ames, Housekeeper/Airline Passenger: (50-70), Very professional and “all business”, the household is “her domain”, somewhat sargeant-like in manner; Marion Ross/Doris Roberts type.
Nurse/Airline Passenger: (40-60), good at her job, efficient; Roxanne Hart type.
Susie Ann, Maid/Airline Passenger: (20-30), timid and “scared of her own shadow”; should have a Jennie Garth (Beverly Hills, 90210) type look.
Police Inspector Williams: (50-65), world-weary, impatient, frazzled and a bit confused; Ted Levine (Captain Stottlemeyer from “Monk”) type.
“Heavenly” First Escort/Fight Trainer: (30-50), “it’s just a job” type, has a “been there-done that” approach; Wallace Langham (Know-it-all, David Hodges on CSI Las Vegas) type.
“Heavenly” Second Escort/Fight Handler: (30-50), nervous and overly cautious, a bit of a “mother hen”; John Cryer (Alan Harper on “Two and a Half Men”) type.
Workman/Airline Passenger/Fight Fan: (30-50), typical “plummer’s physique”; Kevin James (“King of Queens”) type.
Lefty, Murdock’s Fight Manager/Airline Passenger: (45-65), down-to-earth, simple kind of guy, just wants to celebrate his “big win”; John Ratzenberger/G.W. Bailey type.
